Xbox live on Windows 8? Seems the rumors are true!
“Live has been successful on the Windows Phone. Live will be built into the PC. It will be the service where you get your entertainment. We were talking about it — you will not just see consoles and handhelds at this show next year, this show’s going to morph into other devices.” – Microsoft VP of Global Marketing Mike Delman
So technically it IS still a rumor, though it seems Microsoft is trying to leak out their intentions. Now they do not state anywhere that the new OS Windows 8 will actually play Xbox 360 discs, just that the Live system will be integrated in the OS.
It has been stated elsewhere that the “Games for Windows Live” will be replaced by XBOX LIVE branding, and really… I’m surprised that they took this long to bring the branding together. Why have two seperate gaming services? It made no sense!
An interesting thought though is that PCs are always upgrading their tech, so I’m assuming this move means that the big M wants to put more of an emphasis on gamers, and make things more accessible – meaning that having gaming rigs should be easier to get for “the norm”. Well, if you buy your PC new anyways. I know Microsoft doesnt make the machines, but the min requirements to run the OS will be set by them, increasing the demand of brand spankin new hardware, which rules… progression is always a good thing, even if it IS expensive.
Anyway, Im interested in this, though Im sure most people will just use Steam or Origin anyhow. We’ll see what happens!
